Cassie's 22 Most Iconic Outfits from Euphoria

July 11, 2023 - by Themba Mahlangu - 12 min read

Cassie Howard, portrayed by Sydney Sweeney, is a sweet girl who unfortunately struggles with naivety and repeatedly falls into the same traps. This is reflected in her limited color palette throughout both seasons, as we don’t see much positive growth from her. She tends to stick to baby pink and blue, which represent the emotions that Cassie experiences most frequently, as well as her immaturity.

Blue is a color that can signify sadness and loneliness, which are omnipresent emotions in Cassie’s head. She has several emotional breakdowns, and her greatest fear is being alone and unloved, to the point where she’s willing to betray her best friend Maddy for a guy’s affection.

Pink is a color that represents love, something that Cassie craves so desperately. It’s also a feminine color, and Cassie tends to wear clothing that she thinks will make her more attractive to others rather than expressing her true self.

Although Cassie’s style and personality may not be able to compete with Maddy’s outfits, there were still a few standout moments. I mean, who could forget the jaw-dropping pink revenge swimsuit that Cassie wore on Maddy’s birthday? And we absolutely need Cassie’s pink dress for our summer wardrobe!

But let’s not waste any more time. Without further ado, here are Cassie’s 22 most iconic outfits from Euphoria seasons 1 and 2.

  1. Cassie’s Pink Front Zip Bodysuit (S1EP2)

Cassie is reunited with her friends Maddy, Kat, and BB on the first day of school after the summer break. She’s sporting a trendy pink
* Juicy Couture Front Zip Bodysuit
* , paired with light-wash denim jeans and a white mini backpack. Cassie knows that first impressions are everything and is determined to start the school year off in style.

  1. Cassie’s Ruffle Trim Drawstring Top (S1EP3)

Cassie is wearing a flirty pink cinched off-shoulder crop top. The top is none other than the

In this scene, we get a glimpse of Cassie preparing for her weekend at McKay’s school. Her friends and younger sister Lexi are by her side, offering fashion advice and helping her choose the perfect outfit. But which outfit did she ultimately decide on? Stay tuned to find out!

  1. Cassie’s College Frat Party Outfit (S1EP3)

Cassie heads to McKay’s place for the weekend, and they end up at a frat initiation party. She dons a blue and white ruffle t-shirt for the occasion. When McKay is dared to drink a shot of water with live goldfish, he hesitates, but Cassie steps in and convinces him to follow her lead in swallowing the shot. This scene is a perfect illustration of Cassie’s submissive tendencies and how she’s willing to go to extreme lengths for a man’s validation.

  1. Cassie’s Carnival Outfit (S1EP4)

Cassie’s carnival outfit is a denim top and skirt combo paired with over-knee socks. Cassie’s Top is the
* Custom Made Denim Overall Top by Laroxx
* . The night ends in a disaster. After taking Molly, Cassie loses control and has an orgasm in her drug-induced euphoria while riding a children’s carousel.

Cassie’s public display of arousal is incredibly cringe-worthy and mortifying to the point where you can’t help but watch, despite the overwhelming second-hand embarrassment.

The show revisits this scene in the second season when Cassie’s younger sister Lexi stages a play about her peers’ lives, which also includes a reenactment of the infamous carousel incident, much to Cassie’s horror.

  1. Cassie’s Pink Newspaper Print Dress (S1EP6)

Cassie rocks
* The Venus Dress in Newspaper Print by Realisation
* to school. She combines the dress with Doc Marten boots. Cassie flaunts her curves with confidence, but McKay’s approval of her fashion choices has its limits…

He’s drawn to the way Cassie commands attention when she enters a room, causing heads to turn in her direction. Yet, there’s a consistent undertone of him being preoccupied with how his friends perceive Cassie’s style and behavior. Cassie’s a self-proclaimed “out-there girl,” and McKay recognizes that. However, he’s fully aware that his circle will talk negatively about her, given her reputation, adding to his insecurities. Although McKay genuinely likes Cassie and how she makes him feel, her history bothers him. It’s like he loves her, but he’s also ashamed of her at the same time.

  1. Cassie’s Halloween Costume (S1EP6)

Cassie channels her inner Alabama Worley for Halloween with a turquoise bra, cow print skirt, and cowboy boots. Her bra of choice is the
* Longline Fancies Bra by Freya
* , and the
* Funk Therapy Mini Skirt by Delias by Dolls Kill
* completes the look.

In this cow print outfit, Cassie embodies the character of Alabama Worley, who plays a call girl in the Quentin Tarantino-written film
* True Romance
* .
* *
Worley is often reduced to a mere sexual object by men, despite her desire for true love. Sadly, throughout the film, she never finds a man who wants her for more than a good time.

  1. Cassie’s White Embroidery Dress (S1EP7)

This scene takes us back to a time when Cassie was just entering puberty, and her white outfit symbolizes the innocence she had then.

However, as she grew into a young woman, her changing body led to unwanted sexualization and degradation. She received a lot of attention, damaging her self-esteem.

Her self-esteem worsened even further when her drug-addicted father left, only to return years later and use her for money to sustain his habit. The attention she received from men fueled her desire for validation, which she longed for but did not receive from her father. These experiences, from puberty to the relationship with her father, foreshadowed Cassie’s eventual downward spiral.

  1. Cassie’s Ice Skating Costume (S1EP8)

Cassie receives support from her mom and sister when she decides to have an abortion after discovering she’s pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby. McKay is nowhere to be found during this event.

As she goes through with the procedure, the film cuts back and forth between her bare-faced and teary-eyed and a beautiful childhood fantasy of her skating with a face adorned with gems.

The directors aimed for a high-contrast look between the current reality and the skating allegory that symbolizes our childhood dreams of adulthood and the harsh reality we often get served.

Cassie’s skating outfit is inspired by a 1940s film. The costume is super extravagant, almost like a ball gown. It is decorated with diamonds and peacock feathers.

Here is the original design sketch for Cassie’s ice skating outfit:

  1. Cassie’s Cheerleading Outfit (S1EP8)

Maddy and Cassie are best friends (#Massie) and part of Euphoria High’s cheerleading team. The cheerleading uniforms on Euphoria have gained quite a following, and identical replicas can easily be found online. Complete the look with white
* Reebok Princess Sneakers
* and pom-poms. PS: This outfit would also be perfect for a Halloween party!!

  1. Cassie’s Winter Formal Dress (S1EP8)

At the winter formal, Cassie was spotted in the gorgeous
* Camilla Dress in Pink by House of CB
* . Her character went through a lot of trauma, constantly being objectified and exploited sexually by those around her, including a tumultuous relationship with McKay. By the end of season 1, Cassie decided to focus on herself - a decision that clearly ended up going down the drain when season 2 began…

  1. Cassie’s New Year’s Eve Outfit (S2EP1)

At the New Year’s Eve party, we see Cassie in white, angelic-looking Prada heels. After hooking up with her best friend’s high school sweetheart, she’s not so angelic anymore and also somewhat predictable — just like the logo on her slingback strap.

Cassie dons the
* House of CB blue Ella Dress
* , accentuating her curves, while the
* Appliquéd Patent Leather Sandals by Prada
* add a touch of elegance. Her cropped
* Denim Jacket by Fleur du Mal
* provides a casual contrast to the formal attire. Cassie’s style is relatable, with her outfits reflecting her character’s accessible and off-the-rack personality.

In contrast, Maddy’s black dress and gloves showcase her bold and mature style. Costume designer Heidi Bivens chose custom outfits for Maddy and off-the-rack items for Cassie to highlight the different personalities and personal growth of the two best friends.

  1. Cassie’s Blue Zip Sweater (S2EP2)

Following winter formal, Cassie has been struggling with low-grade depression due to her relationship with Nate, her best friend’s abusive ex-boyfriend. You can tell she’s feeling down just by looking at her sad face while strolling down the halls of East Highland High School. Cassie is wearing the
* White & Blue Skylar Tank Top
* and
* Light Blue Arden Hoodie
* , both pieces are by
* John Galt
* . She paired them with a white backpack and denim jeans.

  1. Cassie’s Costume Fitting Series for This is Life (S2EP3)

Lexi is in her element as she envisions her sister Cassie in various outfits for a play that is based on real-life characters.

Cassie is wearing a mint green dress for her first outfit, the
* Clara Mini Dress in Salt Water by Jonathan Simkhai
* . But Lexi is displeased with the dress as it must be “sluttier” to perfectly capture her sister’s style.

Cassie then tries on a pink cut-out dress, the
* Bow Dress by Christopher Kane - SS13 Collection
* . Lexi imagines how her sister would look in this pink 3-bow dress. But again, Lexi is not fully satisfied with this look. She has something “tackier” in mind.

The third dress is floral multicolored with puffy sleeves—it’s
* Marc Jacobs’ The Prom Dress
* . Lexi thinks the costume has to be “sloppier”.

  1. Cassie’s Blue Wrap Top (S2EP3)

Cassie had been trying to catch Nate’s eye at school with a series of different looks. She’d morphed into various personas, hoping to appeal to his taste. This time, she was sporting the
* Ballerina Wrap Top by Bershka
* and a graphic skirt, determined to grab his attention. You can see the desperation written all over her face as Nate walks right past her without a second glance.

  1. Maddy’s Lookalike Outfit (S2EP3)

On this school day, Cassie is dressed head-to-toe in a turquoise two-piece outfit featuring flared pants and a matching crop top. The outfit is the
* Custom Maddy Lookalike Outfit by Seth Pratt
* , which Cassie wore in another attempt to get Nate’s attention.

I don’t know what’s sadder, the fact that she’s trying to conform to Nate’s narrow definition of femininity by using Maddy as a benchmark for her appearance or that she is beaming from ear to ear after Nate barely even looked her way.

In any case, this scene just added to Cassie’s long list of cringe-worthy moments. Seriously, can she just take a breather? It’s exhausting to watch her constantly embarrass herself.

  1. Cassie’s Oklahoma Outfit (S2EP3)

The
* Oklahoma
* scene is hands down the funniest moment of season 2. Cassie walks into the bathroom wearing a flirty coquette outfit and ’60s-style hair. Her dress is custom-made by Seth Pratt, and her tie-front cropped gingham overshirt is the
* Luella Bustier by For Love & Lemons
* . Cassie’s boots are the

* .

Rue greets her as she enters the bathroom. After glancing at Cassie, Rue asks if she is auditioning for
* Oklahoma.
* “Do I look like I’m in
* Oklahoma!
* ?” Cassie asks, shocked.

Soon Maddy and Kat enter, breaching the subject again. “If you’re not auditioning for
* Oklahoma
* , why do you look like that?” Kat asks. “Like what?” Cassie yells back. “Like a country music star,” Maddy responds, which prompts the “In a good or bad way?” from Cassie and Maddy’s iconic “B*tch, you better be joking!”

  1. Cassie’s Pink Tie Front Bikini (S2EP3)

Following the
* Oklahoma
* scene, Cassie can be seen at Maddy’s babysitting house, discussing relationships with her best friend. Although Cassie is actually giving herself advice about her complicated feelings for Nate, she urges Maddy to find someone who loves and respects her for who she is. Cassie is dressed in a

* and

* , complemented by a pair of

  1. Cassie’s Pink Ruffle Minidress (S2EP4)

The Howards hosted a birthday party for Maddy, to which Nate also arrived later on. Before drunkenly throwing on her revenge swimsuit, Cassie looks all innocent in a light pink ruffled mini dress. This is a classic “Cassie” outfit. She loves giving off light feminine energy.

  1. Cassie’s Pink Revenge Swimsuit (S2EP4)

As Nate arrives at the birthday party, Cassie is on her way to being completely wasted, but that doesn’t stop her from chugging another cooler (or two). We can then see her putting on a jaw-dropping pink strappy swimsuit which is the
* Gemma Wrap One Piece Swimsuit by Frankies Bikinis
* . Cassie looks stunning as she confidently walks down the stairs (let’s not even mention
* that
* hot tube scene, though).

  1. Cassie’s Grey Hoodie and Sweatpants (S2EP6)

Maddy discovering Cassie and Nate’s secret hookups sent Cassie spiraling into a full-blown meltdown (including an awkward attempt to cut herself with a corkscrew).

It’s rare to see Cassie in something other than her signature baby blues and pinks. Her outfit in this scene is a grey cropped hoodie and sweatpants, reflecting her shattered emotional state. She is too broken to keep up with her soft girly outfits.

* is her choice of hoodie, while her pants are the
* Rosa Sweatpants
* by the same brand.

  1. Cassie’s Barbie Doll Outfit (S2EP7)

During this particular scene, Cassie and Nate arrive at school as a couple. Cassie has completely changed her appearance to fit Nate’s liking, looking like his creepy Barbie doll. However, let’s be honest; Cassie never really looked like herself since she tends to dress for others rather than herself. On this occasion, Cassie is wearing a
* Pink Cable Knit Bra
* and
* Mini Wrap Skirt
* , both by
* MSGM
* . Her pink shoes are the
* Twice Mary Jane Platform Pump by Steve Madden
* .

  1. Cassie’s Two-Piece Dress at the Play (S2EP8)

In the season 2 finale, we see a furious Cassie storming the
* This is Life
* stage. Later, in the school restroom, Cassie reveals to her former BFF that Nate just dumped her. Maddy is amused but not surprised by this. “Don’t Worry,” Maddy replies. “This is just the beginning.”

Maddy’s words have a meaning that goes beyond her relationship with Nate. When Maddy said that line it felt like she was finally at peace with herself. She is able to recognize the cycle of abuse and walks away from the drama. Maddy went through hell dating Nate and knows how much more abusive and violent Nate will become over time.

She recognizes that Nate is repeating his abusive patterns on Cassie and tries to warn her. Nate breaking up with Cassie is just the beginning, and Maddy knows it will only get worse from here.
